Nora Cafe Print Bundle

This concept project was created for Nora Cafe, a locally owned coffee shop in North Raleigh. The goal was to design a direct mailer and supporting business card that reflected the cafe’s strong emphasis on community, while also providing clear incentives and easy access to practical information.

Context:

  • Nora Cafe’s branding leaned heavily on community as its unique value, rather than just food or drink.

  • Many local cafes compete for attention, so the design needed a strong first impression and a reason to visit.

  • The direct mailer had to balance aesthetic appeal with practical clarity (directions, contact info, promotions).

My Role and Responsibilities

  • Sole designer of the print bundle concept.

  • Designed both the direct mailer and the supplementary business card.

  • Focused on integrating visual identity, customer incentives, and ease of navigation.

  • Tools used: Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo.

Process:

  • Identified “community” as the central brand value to highlight.

  • Planned a two-piece print bundle: a direct mailer and a business card.

  • Focused on consistency in style and clarity across both pieces.

  • Designed each deliverable with its own role: outreach (mailer) and reinforcement (card).

Direct Mailer

  • Front – Featured the slogan “North Raleigh’s Favorite Meeting Spot” with the cafe’s address, a 10% off first order promotion, and a hero image emphasizing community. Added a QR code linking to Google Maps for directions, reviews, and photos.

  • Back – Divided into four panels (Food, Drink, Art Exhibitions, Community) to showcase offerings. Included phone number, website, and reserved space for the mailing address.

Business Card

  • Created as a supporting brand touchpoint.

  • Used a walnut wood texture to reinforce warmth and authenticity.

  • One side highlighted the cafe logo; the other displayed essential contact info (name, title, phone, email, address).

  • Maintained consistent colorway and visual style with the direct mailer.

Outcome

  • Showcased how print materials can strengthen a local brand’s community focus.

  • Demonstrated strategic use of a QR code to provide directions, reviews, and photos.

  • Balanced promotional incentive with storytelling to encourage first-time visits.

  • Reinforced brand identity through consistent visuals across the mailer and business card.
